This piece is based on the chapter 'Trust' from Dylan Landis' novel 'Rainey Royal'. Rainey Royal is a fourteen-year-old girl who is going through a self discovery as a young artist. The first piece portrays how quiet and uninteresting an apartment building can look from the outside in New York City. Contrasting from the first piece, the second piece depicts the aftermath of Rainey's room after she and her friend heisted a couple. The objects are all scattered and messy in a pattern-like manner to represent Rainey's rebelliousness. The colour palette is very minimal. Pink and blue is chosen to represent Rainey's youthfulness. The different shades of pink and blue adds sensuality to the illustration in order to convey Rainey's complex personality.
